The JoeyTan Guide to Tanning Hands & Feet

Hands and feet have thinner, drier skin with more creases, so they grab colour faster than anywhere else. The trick is to use less product, not more.

Prepare the extremities

  • Moisturise knuckles, cuticles, ankles and heels before you begin.
  • Leave the rest of the body unmoisturised.

The residue technique

Never apply fresh product directly to hands or feet. Once you have finished the arms and legs, use only what is left on the mitt and sweep it lightly over the backs of the hands and tops of the feet.

Finishing touches

  • Splay the fingers and buff between them with a dry cloth.
  • Wipe the palms, nails and the sides of the feet.
  • Flex the foot forward so the ankle crease does not collect colour.
