Five steps to an even, natural-looking result — and the safety checks that come first.

Exfoliate 6–12 hours before tanning and shave or wax at least 24 hours before. Skin should be clean, dry and free of oils, deodorant or moisturiser.
Using a tanning mitt, work in long sweeping motions from the ankles upwards, blending well at wrists, elbows, knees and ankles. Use whatever is left on the mitt for hands and feet.
Allow the guide colour to develop for the time stated on your product. Wear loose, dark clothing and avoid water, sweat and steam during development.
Rinse with warm water until the water runs clear, then pat dry. Moisturise daily and avoid long baths, chlorine and harsh exfoliants to extend wear.
Self-tan is a cosmetic product and contains no sun protection. Continue to use sunscreen. For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes, lips and broken or irritated skin. Keep out of reach of children. Discontinue use if irritation occurs and seek medical advice if symptoms persist. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a skin condition, speak to a healthcare professional before use.
Patchiness usually means uneven preparation — exfoliate thoroughly and re-apply. Dark patches on knees, elbows and ankles can be softened with a damp mitt immediately after application.
