HOW TO USE
How to Apply Self Tan Without Streaks
28 July 2026 · 6 min read

Streaks are almost always a technique problem rather than a product problem. Work in sections, keep the mitt moving and let the formula do the rest.
Work in sections, from the bottom up
- Legs first, then torso, then arms, then the face and neck.
- Two to three pumps per section is usually plenty.
- Sweep in long, light strokes, then buff in circular motions to blend the edges.
Always use a mitt
A mitt gives an even layer and keeps your palms clean. Applying with bare hands is the fastest route to orange fingers and visible tide marks.
The tricky areas
- Knees and elbows: use whatever is left on the mitt rather than fresh product.
- Hands: buff the back of the hand with the residue and wipe between the fingers.
- Feet: bend the foot forward to avoid creasing at the ankle.
After you apply
Wear loose, dark clothing, avoid water and stay cool while the colour develops. Rushing this stage is the most common cause of uneven patches.
